A survey shared by Psychology Today reveals that more and more women are choosing to stay single for a variety of reasons. One of the crucial drivers behind such a decision is how women today value their independence, adventurousness, and being able to do things at their own pace. Another reason is how women find more success and happiness in being by themselves.

It is no wonder self-dates for single women are a hot trend right now. There’s an increasing number of provisions targeting the specific preferences of happily single females who actually have the money to splurge on themselves.

Therefore, if you are a Miss in charge of your own happiness looking for new ways to spend quality time by yourself, here are five fabulous self-date recommendations to try if you are from Abu Dhabi.

1. Weekend road trip.

Plan a trip for the two days off you get from work and grown our geographical and cultural knowledge. Find a fancy place to stay and check out the different must-see places in every stop of your road trip, such as a famous local landmark, a highly recommended cafe or restaurant, and novelty shops.

If you want an adventurous drive, take the Jebel Hafeet Mountain Road. For your Abu Dhabi staycation, there’s no shortage of inns and hotels to choose from. As for cafes and restaurants, check out Pinterest to see what the best options are in the different places you will be driving to.

2. Score a membership at a beach club.

This membership will take care of many good weather weekends for you. Instead of staying cooped up at home, you can head to the beach club and take advantage of its many provisions. Take part in special events, and use the different facilities such as the restaurants and gym.

The famous Saadiyat Beach Club in Abu Dhabi, for instance, has the Workout Room. It is a fantastic facility for taking charge of your health and wellness with the help of professional personal trainers and first-class equipment.

3. Have an extravagant brunch.

Brunches are often reserved for families and a group of friends, but you can undoubtedly brunch alone. Take your time in enjoying this two-in-one meal and sample everything that catches your fancy.

The lovely thing about brunch is it can go for as long as you want.  From the wholesome menu offerings for brekkie, you can easily cross over to more sophisticated options and even cocktails. Saadiyat offers Friday Brunch, but big hotels and restaurants in the city have brunch packages as well.

  1. Read and dine.

“Reading gives us a place to go when we have to stay where we are.” – Mason Cooley.

The American aphorist got it right – reading is a wonderful escape, making it perfect as a self-date activity. Tomes can present you with lovely adventures, and you can experience them right wherever you are. To make the activity even more enjoyable, make sure you have something to nibble on.

So, find yourself a cafe that has a nice ambiance for reading, or simply stay home, whip something up in the kitchen to nourish you for hours and hours of reading.

5. Go on an Instagram Spree.

Check out the different Instagrammable places in Abu Dhabi such as the Emirates Palace, The Louvre, the Sheikh Zayed Mosque, and the desert of course. A lot of local cafes and restaurants are quite colorful too and have an interesting interior.

Most of these places have no issue with people taking pictures to post on social media – many of them even have a booth or wall purely for Instagramming customers. You do not necessarily have to flood Instagram with new posts of these places. You can keep some of the snapshots for yourself and perhaps print them to put in a journal.

There’s no denying that sharing a life with someone can be fun, but there is also magic to being alone and doing the things that give you joy by yourself. So, rock being single – it is not a second-rate kind of life. Rather, it is a first-class lifestyle because it is about you prioritizing you.
