Veterans Day

Veterans Day in the United States was first held in 1919, under the name of Armistice Day, in honor of those who served in World War II. In order to include all those who have served the US military, the holiday was renamed as we know it today. Various military branches of the country will participate in a parade through the streets of this country.

To commemorate the day of the end of World War an “unknown soldier” was buried with honors in France (at the Arc de Triomphe) and Britain (Westminster Abbey). These ceremonies were held on November 11 to celebrate the end of hostilities at 11 am. That day is known as Armistice Day or capitulation.
