The history of July

The month of July is the seventh month of the year from the Julian calendar (46 BC.) It was named after Julius Caesar who was born on the 12th in that month. He claimed that the name of this month came from Iulus legend, who had lived nearly a thousand years before. Iulus was the son of the legendary Aeneas, a Trojan hero. After the fall of the city in the hands of the Achaean Greeks, he went to Italy with his father. Aeneas married a daughter of Priam of Troy, Creúsa.
