Do Muslims have a scripture?

Yes, the Koran. The word Qur’an means reading proclamation. Muslims believe the Koran is the holy book where the words that Allah communicated to Muhammad by the archangel Gabriel as mediator are collected. The Quran consists of 114 suras or chapters and has 6,226 aya or verses. The chapters of the Koran are ordered from highest to lowest, except for the first chapter which is a supplication to Allah and the last two, which are magic to protect the sacred text formulas. The suras or chapters have no logical or historical order. Many topics make reference to events in the Old Testament of the Bible.
